Trackday Problems

I was participating event called Botniameet at last weekend. Event was organized in Botniaring racetrack located about 350 kilometers away from my place.

While driving in track i noticed that some kind of liquid is spraying onto windshield. I drove back to pit and start investigate what the heck is wrong. There was some kind of water leak under turbocharger and it did´t look like broken hose etc.

I started to remove intake pipes and other stuff away to see where that leak is exactly.

It did not take long time to figure out that leak is in the block, not in any hose or pipe. This is going to be interesting…

Luckily we have rented a cottage near race track earlier, becouse plan was stay a night there after track day anyway. So R33 was towed there.

Weather was super nice to fix the car. There was also lot´s of extra hands to help sorting this mess out.

Root cause of this leaking problem was freeze plug. Corrosion has eat hole in that plug.

Maybe previous owners has drove car without proper antifreeze liquids or something. I don´t know.

Well, anyway, plug was replaced with couple washers tightened over the hole in block. Lot´s of sealant was also used between washers.

Leaking stopped and it was possibly to drive car back home. Cool!

I wonder what is condition of other freeze plugs…
